Mchale f5500 inline wrapper hitch

Hi all, it’s my first time posting here I run a medium size contracting business and come from many years of experience as a driver before I went on my own. I’m finding help and drivers increasingly difficult to get and I was considering possibly changing my wrapper for an inline system. I was hoping to tow it after the baler for some of the season as much as I possibly could. I would love to buy a fusion but ground conditions just won’t suit and I also just bale and sometimes don’t wrap for a few clients. I was just wondering does anybody have a hitch and fittings for sale or any idea what the setup would cost to buy new nowadays.

Thanks for the replies, I’d be doing every type of land really. My thinking was that if i could tow the wrapper for even half the season or something like that it would help massively and maby just put it on the tractor as well. I was just looking at a few videos online I think it can still be done alright. I completely understand where your coming from about the hills down hill used to be the major problem when the bale got caught between the door and in front of the wrapper!!

We did this for a couple of years, after a long day your head will be spinning watching two control boxes and hills and corners. My advice buy a fusion.
Thanks for the info, did you upgrade to a fusion baler ? I’m just afraid I’d really struggle with it if it was a really bad summer has anybody installed the four wheel axle available by cashels on one or is anybody running them on low sticky land ?

Fusions travel very well on wet ground don’t be afraid of it also you said I only bale for some people & don’t wrap. If I had fusion u can still chuck them off unwrapped or now the option to wrap

Yep had fusion for about 8 years and tbh until this year it has traveled well but it's a fair lump to pull up a wet bank. It's not the fusion that does the damage, it's the tractor finding grip

No experience of the 4 wheel conversion but know of a couple that run on 750s during wet times. There's not much they fail to gather up.

We had a fella come and bale some for us the other day we just wanted it baled but fetched the fusion because he was on with it for someone else nearby I was well impressed with it we got them wrapped as well it saved tramping the wrapper there too miles away from home

560 Vredestein?
20 years ago I told McHale that they needed to fit a better tyre. In the early days of Fusions the contractor I was driving for had a pair of Fusion 1s on 650s. One had Vredestein, the other Nokian. Where the Vredesteins would cut in and stop turning, the Nokians would hardly leave a mark. Same contractor now has Fusion 4s on 650 Alliance with 750 BKT for wet times

Tbh I wished I bought one decades ago, we buggered on with taarup bio balers and in line set up. Fusion another level for performance and reliability. Most customers reckon we make less mess than we used to with baler and separate wrapper

I have a McHale wrapper to go on the baler never use it like that now you need a Tefal head to be on with that carry on

The exact same thing has happened me this year with the single baler as per the fusion in the photo that’s why I was dead against the extra weight and was thinking about having the option of dropping off the wrapper . I completely get what people are saying about the fusion though it would be streets ahead of the inline setup. Since ye mentioned them I was looking at the prices they are very expensive 😅.Just wondering are the orbitals any more user friendly than the HS 2000 I know the baler monitor is comparing to the older f550? I will be exploring all options and not rushing into anything. If I were to consider a fusion I’d be looking at a very low count as my current baler has only 14k count now I presume an equivalent fusion would be very expensive
