Have had to replace around 50 pickup tines in the last 2 yrs and just wondering if anyone else have had this problem
Baler about 3 yrs old and done 14000 bales so not a lot
All broken tines are original tines
Have never had this problem with previous McHales I've had so is it just my baler or has anyone else had a problem
Thanks vic

Claas forage harvester tines fit but you have to make them fit. We fly through McHale tines on the fusion but that is almost exclusively on silage. The v640 that only does dry crop hardly uses any tines. The Claas harvester tines are a good bit bigger. Just get a few and try them see how you get on.

You’ll start to break the roll pins through the cam arms and the bolt on the end tine with the Claas tines unfortunatel!!!

How times change, only a few years ago people were fitting Mchale times to Welger balers cos they were stronger. The Welger HD tines as fitted to their cam less pickup may be the way to go now,I haven’t replaced any on my Welger 245 after 20000 bales of silage.

They must have.
Got a 2011 F5500 doing silage, hay and straw and not broke a tine yet. Straightened a good few at start of season but never broken one.
Wonder what’s changed🤔

Grounds seriously hard atm and some crops were small so needed pickup running close to the ground and chasing quickly to stop crops running away normally means any impact is hard.
Metal fatigue on tines a few years old also make the brittle as will the AVALANCHE AFFECT as one time will take several more times with it

Have already had two cam bearing bolts break on same cam and had to replace bearing on time arm which seem to have sorted it
Bar was sliding few mm sideways which we think stressed the cam bearing and broke the bolt

I remember that too
Must admit the McHale I have now has caused me to go to the tool box many many more times than the last one which makes me wonder if cost have been cut

Somebody else told me the same. I've a 2011 v660 and been advised to keep it. The price increases for round balers like other bits of farm machinery is crazy. Over 30k for a new one now.

Had our Welger 245 a few years ,done 25000 bales and I haven't replaced a single tine. Never did on RP 220, RP200 or RP12 either.

Chains carry pickup, wheels deal with uneven surface.
