Hi there currently on with chopping out the tube/sleeve on the end of a merlo boom where the main pin goes through that and the headstock. Just wondering if anyone has done the same? Cheers

Can you not get someone to line bore it. I have seen it done couple of times one of which wasn’t straight so bucket edges wore bad

We have new one made up along with a new pin which we hope would solve the issue ! Thought it would be fairly simple job cutting it out and replacing as it is good access ?

No it’s a crap job. There is a gusset welded inside its a pain. Ideally the boom needs removing and turning upside down. Vapormatic do a non genuine pin about 200-250

get it bore welded, that way there is no issues or worries about it failing as your not weakening the design of it and you wont have to explain to the HSE if some thing happens, that you cut it out and welded in a home made sleeve.

he is a bit too far away from you to be practical BUT to anyone else a bit closer i highly recommend Jeffery Smith from Gloucester trades as plant services south west.

For people on facebook i highly recommend looking him up on facebook as he had loads of line boring and bore welding videos and pictures on his page. There are even pictures of this exact job on merlo, his work is 100%, i had someone attempt a line bore on a JCB and made a mess of it! Jeffery came and sorted it all out for me :)
