MF 6480 won't start after filter change

My MF 6480 (t3 Perkins) won't start after changing filters.
Refitted filters to check it wasn't sucking air in system, but still won't start.
All fuses ok
Had new injectors 3 years ago, so hopefully they've not failed.
Coming up with error code 678, not sure what that means

If it hasn't got fuel it won't start .

Have you checked that you still have an o-ring seal on the screw on plastic bowl? I've seen this fall off when changing filters. You'll get a new seal with the plastic cap on the filter.

Check the fuse. On the T3 7480 I used to have they told me a fuse can blow after a filter change

Common rail if it’s tier 3 so no need to bleed the rail or injectors. I would however recommend that you ensure you have a good supply of fuel to the HP pump before cranking it too much. Have they got some sort of lift pump or primer pump?

They have a big primer button which should get hard to push once completely bled.

Yes, changed and checked the o ring on the plastic bowl

Checked fuse (f28), all ok

Yes, got hard to push many times, but didn't fire, even pushed it whilst starting, but nothing

I'm not sure how significant the error code is but I would be tempted to take the air filters out and give it a sniff of easy start which may get it going the first time and be fine after that.

Just crack injector pipe to check derv is there

Could it just be by coincidence that the fuel shut off solenoid has failed? Or perhaps while changing filters that you have accidentally pulled a wire off the solenoid?

its possibly the relief valve stuck open on the HP rail, seen that a few times. the error code will probably help pin point the problem if you can find a list of what codes mean.

Did its start at all after changing filters? Would run for a short amount of time with fuel left in injectors etc

On a common rail it wouldn't .

Did you fill the filters with fuel before refitting? They take a lot of bleeding through if you don’t

On my old t3 perkins i always filled the filters then used the hand primer until it was solid. Once had a tier 2 perkins run out of fuel, took ages to get it bled
