The questions is often asked but looking for some rough figures, looking at buying a nearly new tractor from massey dealer and have 4 year warranty but have to pay for servicing. How much is the typical service, some services are bigger than others so cost more but the tractor would roughly need 2 services a year? How much would they be looking to charge. Thank You

The simple answer is to just ask them
Technically any dealer can service it with genuine parts anyway and not avoid warranty but that can cause some friction later down the line if something goes wrong, ie you probably will be bottom of there jobs to do list

Get them to quote you for the first year on a fixed service contract to see. Is it a replacement for 6480 are you selling 6480?

Quite right that is the simple answer but knowing dealers they would play the cost down for the sale

Some dealers have a fixed price service for labour clearly advertised on there websites, plus parts and oils.

I’m in similar position. Need another tractor really as one spends most of the summer on row crops now not sure if we should buy new or nearly new or just look for another 6480

we had a 7726 1500 hr service done recently and was 1680 plus vat, they supplied all oils and filters

Technically only an authorised MF dealer can carry out servicing in order to keep warranty in tact. . All services have to be logged on Agco s dealer portal . Fact

No, all parts must be Genuine. Oils must be genuine or approved.

I understood that it was against the law to insist on this. As long as it is provable that the machine was serviced by a properly qualified individual using genuine parts, as I understand it, it is considered in law to be acceptable for the purposes of warranty.

Edit to say, in the case of the u.k. and Europe.

100% is the case in the motor industry, was a massive law case many years ago that brought in that change. No idea if it extends to agriculture but I'd think a decent lawyer would be all over it with a precedent being set already
