Mig welder recomendation

Any recommendation for a single phase mig welder around 300amp doesn’t seem to be much choice above 250 amp now

Currently I have a Jasic 250amp. Had an Oxford before that. I prefer the jasic. Will probably change to a warrior welder in the summer though they seem to be the most powerful on single phase.

Oxford or warrior as said above, I have both , Oxford is excellent workshop welder, but very heavy . If you are looking to go out and about the warrior is a better choice , very light and with being inverter won't blow much trips. I'm not sure of availability anymore of the Oxford as they are all transformer and as far as I know transformers based welders aren't been made anymore

Oxford or Tecarc, built in Britain and been on the go a while so spares and repairs shouldn't be an issue.

The energy efficiency directive thing has meant that the old style transformer based MIGs can no longer be supplied but if old stock still available would get one as proven technology and not relying on PCBs. Downside is it will weigh a bit.

This would a decent machine may be worth having a chat with the sales guys to understand what has changed since the new regulations directive came into force other than the price.....:

Inverter Technology means the old transformer models are being phased out.
Talk to your local welding suppliers about the best options for your application & get a few demo's to see what suits you best, they'll point you in the right direction & may be able to source an old stock new transformer welder if required
A point to note - none of the new inverter welders will like being parked in a a damp shed

Last Mig I bought was in a panic. All we’re going to be inverter so ended up with an alphamac, it’s a badged thing but to be honest it is a lot better than the Jefferson. Next closet would have been a jasic 270 which apparently is as good as a 300amp transformer set and easier on electric too

Just as a follow up… this morning my jasic 250 on single phase 240v. 15mm to 8mm wall 120 box section.

What size have you got? I’m looking at a 250 amp, the 350 is nearly double the price but has a stick welding facility as well I can’t really justify the extra cost,

I've tried to be patriotic and to go down the robust British built kit in the past couple of years and been very disappointed with absolutely terrible components letting down good products. An Oxford welder is no longer an Oxford welder, its now full of low quality components in an Oxford style box. It hasn't let me down yet as a base unit but the torch fell to bits internally within days of work, oe tips/shield/torch are rubbish, very doubtful its a 350a welder, peak output maybe but cycle wise, not a chance its anywhere close... flat out it gives no more penetration than my old 180a stick welder. Its a good welder, but not good enough for the money. I'd probably go Jasic if I bought again. None too impressed with the new Demon Pressure washer either whilst on a rant, on switch broke literally first time it was turned on, 20 minutes later it blew a copper blank out of the frost protection, 10 hrs use the lance fell to bits and shortly after a fuel leak set the machine alight... feel a bit of a plonker for not resurrecting the 20 yo Karcher for the 100th time.. don't buy British for its quality.

I resurrected my 20+ year old Karcher for the second time last year. Fantastic machine!
Not sure on the ‘buy British’ any more as I often feel this phrase is used to sucker the suckers into parting with their money.

I’d love a new good small reliable MIG in the 20 to 250Amp range but find my inverter stick welder is my ‘reach-for’ unit as I’m not paying BOC rental charges.

Talking to a couple of independent welder supplies/repair places both said the same about Oxford being a good name on a not so good product so that has put me off
