We are looking at installing milking robots and replacing our parlor. currently milking 220 with the view to expand. My question is what the capacities of each milking RMS. Doing some research in to how i can utilize box capacity and maximize time.

what is Kg per day?

considering Lely, DeLaval and Fulwood.

thanks in advance.

Holsteins 50-55 head/ machine
Jersey up to 70

There are only 23 hours in a day.

BUT , and it’s a big but, where do you think you’ll be re cow numbers because up to 4 or at a push 5 bots is ok, above that is a nightmare unless you have 24hr cover 7/365

Milking speed plays a big part in it. Whole herd of slow cows & it will tie up the bots. We’ve had up to 125 on two robots. But any slight problem, be it breakdown or even TB testing & it takes a while to catch up. The harder you push numbers the more of a headache it can be. Generally have around 115.
2000kg/robot seems reasonably achievable (we’re housed Holsteins with red robots). But depends what sort of system you run. 18 months in & we’re still finding our feet a bit & working up towards where we want to be.

from our 9 yrs of milking with lely a4s weve found the sweet spot is around 50 cows/ bot circa 18/1900kg but since we have put a 4th separate bot in for low yielders we can load upto 65 but still circa 18/1900 kg but the high shed will max at 145 on 3bots, if you try and push nos too far the wheels do start to wobble and it then means more potential niggles, less time to fix them and maybe not letting your cows express their true potential.
@Bald Rick is deffo the man to speak to if you are looking to expand significantly as the ideal for a family farm is 3/4 robots, once you introduce staff into the equation things can very quickly take a different turn.

220 cows. 4 delaval cassic bots, free flow, average around 2200kg a robot. Have seen them do 2500 on a good day. No idle time and terrible when breakdowns happen. 2.7 visits, a fair bit of chasing around, 8.15 box time.
Just got the v300s in on Friday, so will see if we get more milk for it. And/or less hassle chasing lazy cows about. (It's currently worse as cows are being cows about the new look/smell).

2 red ones, milking 147, averaging 2550ish/bot, 5% free time.

Not by choice, but TB needs must 🫣
Would absolutely get more per cow, less stress, less labour etc from reducing numbers. But it shows what can be done

But your box time would reduce with more milkings ? We are currently 6.20 but on 3.1 milkings, your maxing production per milking so I wouldn't be worried

Thats the key ... max milk production not cow numbers
Other thing that is a must is back up from the engineers. Took us at least 3 years to get good at repairs/knowing what was wrong but still needed engineer &/or part(s)

Also pay attention to running costs and be prepared for broken nights. There is a lot of joy in parlour milking .... and, a small but vital point, you can miss cows that are ill under robots unless you walk the shed(s) regularly
