Ministry Welfare Inspection

I’ve had a call too book a Welfare inspection from the RPA. I’ve never even heard of this kind of inspection before. They want too see my medicine store, medicine records, movement records (which seems too be a generic of every kind of inspection) check the cattle all have tags and have a general look around the livestock. Should take 1 1/2 hours. I’ve told him it will take 2 at least too look around all the stock which surprised him. So I’m not sure what too expect at all?
Has anyone else had one of these? I’m not Farm Assured so wondered if that’s flagged up? 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you're not red tractor , this is what you get , trading standards used to do them .
FA here and had them turn up un-announced and check all the ear tags, had to drop everything . Chap was alright tbf ,happy to read alot of the tags walking about . Neighbour had them turn up and wanted the works, tags, records, meds etc, without a minutes notice. Anybody who doesnt register calves somewhere near on time would be up s##t creek

As luck would have it we are isolating until the 29th June due too the Op, he was sound about it and has asked too come on July 1st. So I have got time too go through everything and get it something like right. Bit of a general tidy up too wouldn’t do any harm

we had a full cross compliance inspection, 48 hrs notice, that kept me awake at night ! Chap duly turned up, explained what he had to do/see, and went to great lengths to assure me, this was a 'random' inspection, bit like a raffle ticket.
Then explained something like 90% of visits, are in response to a reported welfare/other problem. The inspection was very thorough, records, stock etc, probably how RT inspections should be, not ticking boxes, we were fine, except for the fact we had 4 pigs, and he wasn't 'trained' on pigs, so another min official, had to drive 1.5 hours, to see 4 pigs !
What it did show, my record keeping, and our stock, and crops, were absolutely fine, and it took 6 hours, to do, never been quite so worried by inspections since.

Never had RPA.

Had APHA out earlier this year following an anonymous complaint to RSPCA. Since going out it's something who wants the grass next year.
I did have a visit from the APHA back in February about some sheep I had on a field that were “starving too death”. Inspector came, agreed the lambs had indeed just finished the turnip crop. Took photos of the 4 bulk corn hoppers, the bales of haylage and the grass run back field. Thanked me for my time, apologised for the inconvenience and off he went. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I wonder if this is the follow up too it?

min vet told us, lame sheep, and 'starving' cattle were the main complaints, cattle on strip grazing grass/kale, being deliberately starved. Going around, l would have to agree, outwintered cattle, in a wet time, don't look the best.
We have a duty to be sensible, about how we farm, public perception, is becoming important, especially to s/mkts, that and profit, are about the only things they re-act to.

The inspector said that since the lockdowns began the amount of reports they had received was something like 4 times more than the average. 9/10 it was the public reporting something that wasn’t in need of reporting. He said he felt a right pr*ck going out onto farms following up reports knowing full well there would be nothing wrong. He was also blaming the currant vegan phase. He seemed too think if they couldn’t see a problem they would make one then report it.

im farm assured but had 4 different inspections within 12 months pre covid. Tbh I found Ministry inspectors much more sensible than Farm Assured
