I think a good store (owned by whoever) in the right place with the right staff with the right attitude will still do well but they will need to change with the times and not get complacent.
Totally agree , our ag merchant is thriving despite being based in a low livestock area (they trade all over the country via the net )

Never used Mole for anything tbh, except a tombstone feed ring they had cheap that had been kicking about at the back of the yard for a few years.
Always go to either Carr's billington at Bakewell (which is where all the ex mole staff are now), Eyre's at brough, Wardmans or occasionally Leigh's.

Local store is Frome and its pretty awful organisation in there. Been asked to wonder around the back myself on a couple of occasions to help find stuff I've ordered or their computer says they have in stock.

Their pricing is peculiar. Bought tarpaulins in there last month - cheaper than anything I found on Internet once p&p added. Gate hangers, bolts for hangers, weld on hangers, even 20l cans of Roundup (before price went mental) were cheaper in Mole than anywhere else.

However a 14l bucket will set you back about £8. And ss for a yellow 14l bucket.......

Popped into mvf store on way past to pick up Cydectin. Could see the stuff behind the counter, 3 ft away from me, server was stood next to it, only to be told that there was no one working qualified to sell it to me! There was someone there yesterday and there will be someone tomorrow.
Loads of staff, including 3 behind that desk - non qualified by all accounts!
Not happy to say the least

Best to ring and reserve when the qualified staff are there. A suitability qualified member of staff at a rival store told me about the training course, and all the modules they must have in order to do the job. It will be a disruption to the store when they lose their person, and can't recruit anyone with the right abilities to replace right away.
