Moving vehicles blocking access

Presumably we can’t do this, either on the highway or private land? At least not without covering the countryside in signs? Which isn’t exactly practical. I’m being flippant but I’m concerned about the vast influx of walkers we have had who abandon cars wherever they like and having run the combine 10 miles to get to a field only to find I can’t get in it.....
I don’t see why I should have to tape off my own gateways anyway but I guess the law takes a different view. Any advice-links of things to look at would be most helpful......

This is id like to do if I’m losing my sh!t in the middle of harvest but I doubt it’s in anyway legal. More like what happens if I damage one squeezing by.

If they are on the highway, call plod. If on private land and it's stopping lawful activity thereon then it's criminal trespass and therefore call plod. We all pay for plod. Get them used. The only way I'd shift it would be under supervision and instruction of plod, hence acting on their behalf and recorded by them.

Another related question. Combines are wide, do we need to be left enough room or do parked cars only need to leave say 3m so that standard width vehicles can get through? I’m talking about a high street through a village now.

neighbour has a bad 'corner' on his farm, cars quite regularly used to fail to make the turn. Got so peed of with it, he removed tax disc, left a note saying, when insurance details exchanged, they could have the disc back, result, P C Plod threatening him with arrest, if he didn't replace it then, no interest in the damage caused to his property.
Used to help uncle with harvest, one narrow lane, put the 'please keep clear, for combine' notices up, day before, usually difficult, but doable, most times, some not, police, just not interested, so knocking on doors etc. But, on one occasion, when owner would not move car, 6 of us manhandled it, out of our way, into a position where he would have extreme difficulty, in getting into it, even more getting it onto the road again !!!!

Went to spray field once and a car was parked in the gateway so I just dragged it up the verge. Never heard any more. That was when they had a loop under the bumper to tow from. More difficult now that you have to screw a towing loop in.
If you don't damage the vehicle I don't think that you can be prosecuted for anything.

Just drag it out of the way and stick to the story of having no knowledge of it.
Easy enough to do without causing any damage and farmers are better equipped than most to do it.
Owner will return and kick off no doubt but just ignore them too.

Alternative is to call police who might turn up a few hours later. At very best they will call out a recovery firm to tow it away who will take a further few hours to turn up. Prior to their arrival three more double manned police cars plus armed response will turn up, completely blocking all roads and stand there chatting.
Owner will then turn up, farmer kicks off and gets arrested and carted away just in time to see the tow truck turning into the lane who then flashes the car driver out in front of him.

Get pre printed notes and stick in windscreens or wheel clamp them in?

I think you can pretty much what you like providing you don't do any damage. Think about the kiddies that nick quads and go for a ride up the local high street......"I was going to take it back......"

get a double hook chain and hook into the lower a-arm each side, have to get low enough not to rip the front/rear valance off though. Used to do it regular with the cattle lorry years ago.

If over 3m, your supposed to notify the police 24 hrs before movement, or get a dispensation order.
So if you call plod, you may find your the one ending up with the ticket.

I once went to roll a field of grass seed one night, got there an a van blocking the gateway, no one around,kept ringing the number on the van and left messages, started to get annoyed as it was getting late and I couldn’t leave the job, I was getting ready to push the van out of the way with my weights when I remembered there was another gateway!

In ancient times, our farm was in the middle of the village. Commuter village with cars parked all over. Buggers wouldn't let us build a new yard on the village edge - had most of the main coned off each summer for us to get the combine to the fields. Grumbly fukks gonna grumble whatever you do.

Simiar situation. Car blocking the farm track and needed to get hay in. Checked everywhere for the owner - nowhere to be found, so I rang the police just to keep things right as I moved the car (an old Micra) about 5m. I was told if I touched it that I would be arrested. It didn't matter that rain was forecast and they were blocking my legal access. Next time I will just move them. If I am going to get arrested at least I would be able to get the hay in first!!!
