Muller DGPS issue

First off is it Muller or Mueller? The website contradicts it's self šŸ˜‚

I've got a machine with a basic terminal and A100 receiver, I can't get a DGPS fix, it gets GPS ok and paints the screen but needs more accuracy for section control.

I've checked the cabling and plugs, the cable has a bit of damage on the outer sheath, it hasn't gone through to the wires though. But in my mind if it can get GPS ok the wiring and receiver must be working?

Weirdly I can't find a setting anywhere to see what satellites it's set to search for either, the manuals aren't the best.

It's only egnos, I want to go RTK with it but that's for another day. I'd be happy to get It working as is for now.

You can see on the picture below, its got good GPS signal

Was it getting to DGPS before? As mentioned probably not wiring if you get some GPS signal, it would be more likely all or nothing. There have not been any EGNOS outages or PRN changes recently so in theory if it was working before on EGNOS then should still be working now. Are there any GPS setting menus in the terminal?

This is on a new to me machine, the previous guy had it for a year but I don't think he used section control. I've messaged the owner that had it before that but just waiting on a reply.

I've looked for settings but the screen is very basic, I couldn't find anything to do with the signal and what satellites it's set to look for. I'm wondering if it's a locked service menu somewhere.

U with a umlaut (double dot above) can be written as UE if you don;t have that option on a keyboard :)

According to one Hemisphere Crecent A100 manual, the receiver should be configured to automatically search available SBAS (EGNOS) satellites. Then again, our Amazone sprayer had the same receiver and the Amazone GPS-Switch screen has a setting for two SBAS satellites.

Perhaps the antenna was not on long enough. It takes quite some time to obtain EGNOS corrections and it takes even longer if the GPS receiver first needs to look for EGNOS satellites. Be sure to have the receiver in a place with good visibility towards the southern horizon, this is where the geostationary EGNOS satellites appear.

If waiting does not help, perhaps the receiver should be configured with another screen. Not sure if it is easy enough to do it via a serial monitor or some other app.

I was out spraying for the majority of the day and it didn't find anything, the receiver is on the roof next to the Trimble one and that gets a fix straight away so the location is good.

I'll see what I can get a hold of, screen or receiver to see if I can get anything different to happen.

Is it possible to output a DGPS signal from my Trimble 750 into the Basic terminal? I'm using that in the same machine for the steering.

Sure, NMEA output explained at the advanced display settings section of the 750 manual. Just need to find the COM port pin numbers, did not seem to be covered by the manual.

Forward this to the Basic terminal A100 receiver port.

I've found the issue, I need to update the software however that's not as easy as I first thought.

I've downloaded the zip file off the Mueller website, extracted it onto the ME USB that's with the terminal, plugged it in as all the instructions mention however it wont autorun the update once I switch the terminal on.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

How did you extract the files to the USB stick? You are supposed to extract the zip file first on your computer, then run the exe file (7-zip self extracting archive) which writes the correct data to your MĆ¼ller USB stick.

Looking at this picture again, I've seen two of those antennas with corroded pins. One had actually snapped off and was stuck in the plug. Another 2 had water in them, and lots of it. Not even sure how that was possible tbh !

Once id got my head around the operating system it was easy to find the GPS settings, I was just being a plank.

The software is that old it hasn't even got the latest egnos satellites to choose from.

I downloaded it to the Pc, then extracted it all straight onto the USB stick. It extracted a load of files and stuff onto the stick, there was a autorun note file there so it all looked right.

So you downloaded the 1612876266_BT_TOP_Installation_V041005a_und_397-1.zip file, essentially extracted that first and then run the BT_TOP_V041005a_und_V397.exe file which extracts the folders as in the attached pic to the USB.

The screen was switched off, then USB stick inserted, then screen powered on but nothing happens?

You are talking about the A100 receiver, not just an antenna? I know the Trimble AG25 antenna sucks water inside via the magnet mount, haven't heard of the A100 receiver doing the same but quite possible. Temperature changes inside the antenna make the air pressure change, water is suck in via any small crack when air cools but isn't blown out when air heats up. Repeat that many times and you have a significant amount of water inside the antenna.

I thought the issue here is not the receiver (including the antenna) but the terminal that does not have the SW for the current EGNOS satellites. The SW update bulletin says it brings the selection for the currently active satellites (broadcasting EGNOS correction data).

I've deleted everything off the USB stick and re-done it for the 3rd time, this time it came up saying there's already the same files on the stick (even though there's nothing I can see on it?) so I agreed to overwrite them. I'll try and give it a go in a bit see if its any different.
