As with everyone, we're trying to bring our feed costs down, we keep a lot things but not a lot of anything on our 40 acres, and would like to be mixing our own feed really- buying in bulk would suit us better.
We keep cows, sheep & goats and pigs, and basically need an idiots masterclass in nutrition as they've obviously all got different dietary requirements but what I want to know is what staples could we put in place that would suit everyone and then what other supplements would each other thing need?! We've had all the relevant test through the vets and arent running on any deficiencies, they all have relevant licks out and thats the only supplement they get.
I also like the idea of being able to tailor it better for different situations i.e. conditioning, post lambing etc.
Its more the winter months and summer pig feed, the rest graze a lot and don't get hard feed through the rest of the year unless its just calved or getting ready for showing.
