hi
need a tractor for haulage work pulling dump trailer and lowloader trailers, ideally 180-250hp
air brakes and 50k. i will be fitting a new quicke loader on whatever tractor i buy for stacking silage bales.

have 50k pounds to spend and would really appreciate good pointers on the best tractor for the job
i tend to always buy a 5 year old tractor as it has most of the depreciation done at that stage.

Which dealer do you like?
At the moment I would go for a proven case puma cvx. Best engine around, great gearbox and not that expensive. Only trouble is the brakes are not the best but that shouldn't be an issue with good airbrakes on the thing that's behind.
You can go for either a small frame or large frame model. The largeframe will fit a 710/75r42 tyre which is nice. Edit: 710/75R38 I mean.

Yeah, why not?

Don't fancy doing a lot of shuttling with old style gearbox. Beeep! Don't think budget will get a 5k hour 4000 series. Which would be great on loader.

How far down gearbox do you have to go to get equal speeds in forward and reverse? In high range reverse is much much slower. Which would be annoying on loader.

Don't think fitting loader brackets is as straightforward as a conventional tractor either.

Don't see many about with loaders?

Must be good reason.

Yeah the budget could be a stumbling block.

Shuttle isn't great on a smoothshift type, medium box matches reverse.

4, wheel steer would be great though.
