Yep. Was going to raise this with you. I'm a dairy farmer, so don't know anything detailed about crops. What are the 'non-pesticide alternatives' that they refer to? Do they exist, and are they feasible, or is this just something to mislead potential signatories with?

Also, is GM tech a possibility for dealing with the loss of neonics?

10 eu countries use neonics

the issue with sugar beet is that the alternative is multiple spray application which do more harm to inscects

my local bee farmer is more concerned that the area of flowering crops will fall due to reduced areas because of pests
he has never had a problem with neonic usage on crops and bees getting lost
infact his usual problem is too many bees and hive swarming
amature bee keepers often lose hives because they are weakend by swarming and theym do not feed them early enough in cold wet summers

These are the people who think the western lifestyle that they enjoy can somehow be sustained by winding the clock back to medieval times. It might do some of them good to turn their heating off for a week and live on porridge made with just oats and cold water. Because if these people get their way, then that’s where we are heading while we have no alternative means of saving our crops. Though of course these people, as with all idealists from Pol Tin Pot to Kim Ding Dong, will be the very last to suffer from the deluded, plain wrong, non scientific homespun moral framework they wish to impose on the rest of the world.
Welcome back to age of witchcraft.

But is there a non pesticide alternative?
In theory predators could control virus carrying aphids but in reality it doesent really work as many osr and sugar beet growers harvested uneconomic yields this season . Paper never refused ink but the field will try the man . Many of these so called activists have zero practicial experience of crop production but that never seems to matter !!!
