New Defenders Group on Facebook?

Beginning to see a few of them around Moreton-in-Marsh now. Even the new 90.
Definitely growing on me, though well out of my price range.
Had one of the LR Directors with one on the Farm here try to go across a down hill field I wouldn’t have attempted in my Disco 3 even with its General Grabber tyres on. It go stuck going forward let alone backwards, which seemed completely out of the question. So we asked it what to do. It said put me into reverse with the correct terrain response and gently touch the throttle. Amazingly it backed itself out no problem!

I have to say I don’t like the current Discovery 5 or Range-Rover Sport because they just look very ugly.
And what the hell is the Velar?
Discovery Sport looks OK’ish.
But the new Defender looks spot on to me looks-wise, never mind its other abilities.

That is my thinking too. It's the best thing in the range. Once a nice one starts with a 3 I will be in.

Is anyone else on it? I got kicked out for pointing out that half the posts were from JLR staff pretending to give independent comment on how great it was.
As my dear departed Gran would have said:
“They’re more to be pitied than scorned”.
And let’s face it, the way global share prices / investments of the gullible sods who would *normally* pay ‘full list’ are going, most of the FB ‘group members’ will very likely be staring at a P45 within 18 months.

I see that Aston Martin are staring down a very dark hole at the moment. For a company that’s gone bust 7 times (so far) you’d really hope they’ve followed the old joke and printed the share certificates on 3 ply bog roll.

Aston have just had a load of money from the Strolls. They do seem to have a lot of hope pinned on the new SUV though. Buts it has worked for Lambo and others.

Have to say, JRL have a fairly decent presence down here, you see lots of recent Range Rovers & Discos about, but I haven’t heard a single mention of the new Defender or any publicity around it, except on foreign “media” . . .
they certainly not promoting it here for some reason

They bought into AML at £4 a share in January, those shares are hovering around £2 now, and they’ve chosen to double down...
Then again, he’s a self made billionaire, I’m not.

The page is completely terrible. You would think they would remove the fact they work for jlr from the profiles. Looked like one problem was identified on there though. The car is restricted to a prity low speed at max height

Totally agree, and in my first post I did try and point that out. That it wasn't all positive for the JLR brand as it was so obvious they had paid staff in the group, posting as if they are the public giving free comment (on a product that they have been allowed to use for free).

Explain more the last part please? The speed restriction is variable base don the height of the car?

My father used to say that he worked in sh1t and dirt every day, so why shouldn’t he drive a decent vehicle?
The trouble is that this new Defender is going to be a “Status symbol vehicle” right from the start.
Yes it is clever and it does look fantastic IMO. But the original concept of it being a farmers work horse has gone right out of the window because it is OTT and over-priced for what we need.

10 years ago there was a defender on nearly every farm round here. Now there will one on half of farms, including us.
I haven't seen the new defender in the local dealers yet, probably says all farmers need to know about the target market.
Read about JLR brands market segmentation being parallel rather that stratified - RR, Disco and defender will all offer different solutions at similar prices rather than moving up brands as price increases.

If you put defender into eBay then set price highest first it turns out adding leather seats and some tacky wheels adds 40 grand to the value of a old defender
