Yep. Only had one plastic tank and looking back steel would have been better but back then plastic was suggested to be the future.

It split 2 weeks back days after being filled and has now been replaced by a bunded steel version. Will go on for decades now with no need to worry.

If at all possible hide the fuel station in a building. If thieves don't see it on a cursory glance, they won't be able to rob it.

We have both, I would also go steel if possible. The bottoms of plastic tanks are shaped for rigidity and have lots of nooks and crannies where water sits and can't be got out which I believe makes them worse for sludge build up.

Metal bunded here now after a plastic one split. The Plastic ones don't seem to be outside in direct sunlight.

Agreed. I just hope you managed to change it before it splits and costs you a few hundred pounds in fuel lost.

Just got a 2500l slimline plastic tank.
With pump and filter and meter and light etc.
It's a Harlequin, got it from fuel tanks online.com
Pleased so far

If you buy a bunded plastic tank surely the inner tank wont suffer from sunlight degradation as it is inside the outer tank and never sees sunlight?

I have had a bunded plastic ..Titan i think ..for over 10 years yes its in a shed so not in the sunlight...no probs so far ..but may go for a metal one for Derv...yes it may be cheaper at the pumps sometimes but you can waste so much time going to get it
