New Land Rover Defender?

I had a defender for 2 years and liked the vehicle. Didn't like how it would regularly fall apart however. It did most things reasonably well, wasn't the best at anything but was good at pretty much everything. Did a few longish trips in it, n.lincs to northern France and Scotland and found it comfortable enough ( done the same in old leaf sprung soft top jeeps so my benchmark for comfort probably not very high).
As a working vehicle my dad bought an imported extra cab 2.8 hilux in the late 90s which we still have and has been a great motor.

So, who is the new discovery aimed at, looks like the range rover to me but slightly cheaper, anyway with a 1000 jobs just been axed, they are blaming diesel, probably more like to over priced, sorry for value for money a top spec pick-up has everything you need at a lot less money and a lot more comfortable, sorry @Cowabunga your wrong again here.:D

I do not understand that, and cannot work out, from it, just what I’m meant to be wrong about, "again".

If this is the new one the only thing in common with the Defender will be the name. Although it will come in a LWB and soft top variants.

Not uncommon for prototypes on test not to have their own finished bodywork fitted. So final product may look nothing like that. (One would hope not anyway)

I bought this recently, on a whim or mid life crisis. Must’ve been one of the last made on a 16 plate with only 1400 miles on it, and had never seen rain according to the dealer.
Was supposed to be part x my L200 in the deal , but after realising how I wasn’t getting much for it ( 08 plate, 52k miles ,£4K ), I kept both. A month later I decided that the mucky pick up was more suited to be the farm vehicle, easier to chuck stuff in the back and couldn’t bear to mess the Landy up.
It also wasn’t that great as a car, Mrs hated it, noisy, leaked water on you when you opened the door, no air con etc.

Anyway, I put the reg number in one of these we buy websites and was surprised they were offering £1k more than I’d paid a main dealer. Thought they’d try and knock me down, but went anyway and was pleasantly surprised when they did pay me the grand extra.
This will now be going into one of their auctions, whereby I presume they’ll hope to get even more for it.
Just wasn’t for me .

If you had a head on crash your knees would be the crumple zone.
I carefully studied a defender that had suffered a severe front end crash with a Hgv. From the drivers point of view it had faired quite well for an old design. The chassis had crumpled correctly at the front and the engine and gearbox had pushed backwards and down until the engine was largely under the passenger compartment, yet the passenger compartment had remained in shape, with little bulkhead or pedal movement towards the driver, only the door had bowed slightly. I guess the lack of airbags and the sudden stop against the steering wheel was bad for the driver, but all things considered, I thought it not bad at all when it had received such a massive impact.

I saw a defender at the local garage that had been in a collision. On the passenger side the front wing, wheel and passenger seat were none existent from the chassis out. Thankfully there wasn't a passenger in it when it smashed. The driver escaped with just minor injuries but had he hit his side of the vehicle I very much doubt he would have lived to tell the tail.

We buy any car.com.
Always been a bit dubious of them, but basically it’s BCA . Chap showed me pics of some very expensive cars he’d bought , including an £80k Aston Martin. Reckons they beat trade ins for the likes of Audi and Bmw at dealers by a considerable amount.
Money paid over by BACS no problem.
