Surprising given how lax the veterinary laws are in the USA. I’m saying that not sure how many UK scanners are DEFRA approved.

Doubt if they are talking about full vet qualification as we know it in the UK. More likely to be a "qualification" awarded after completion of a short course similar to what an AI tech does.

So they where doing something that in their country is illegal, have been warned that what they are doing is illegal, and now are shocked that they have been arrested?

Did you read the article? There are several key points, but the main one is the classification of ultrasound scanning as "medicine".

It’s state by state but most states would have some sort of law making hoof trimming, AI and preg checking essentially veterinary procedures that are only to be performed as a service by a vet.

Often the laws were made before these practices were even a thing or large animal vets were plentiful. Someone clearly has a vendetta against these guys and has taken it way too far.

I do personally know someone who is diagnosing, treating, prescribing and even performing surgeries as a service, that is not a vet. Going after that kind of behavior I can understand. Not this

I’m a better hoof trimmer than any vet I’ve ever met and many are far more skilled trimmers, AI tecs and preg checkers than a trained vet. It’s just a matter of laws not being modified and agriculture being such a small population that nobody ever bothered to change them.
