It's a balancing act. Maybe cut the field for silage and let them out to the dykebacks!Would controlled starvation work any better?

Not often it’s happening that way roundGot feed rep to test grass today, cut 6 weeks ago today . Fertiliser 5 weeks ago + light slurry... grass high in N, needs about a week. He said he's found a fair bit of luxury uptake and thinks some N left over from the 1st cut. As for moving to robots I know 2 being taken out as the farmer moves herd to to another part of his land and converting a beef house to cubicles and installing a parlour.... no more than a 10 minute drive from you

Yes I'm not surprised, dry ground, nice crop of grass . The man who puts it in for me still has his own to do and he was earlier than me with the 1st so I'm happy to wait until next week.5 weeks worth of n but first 2 weeks probably wasn't growing much due to dry so would expect that. We're 8 weeks cut today, just nice crop with bit of stem if get at this week.
Anyone like to put a value on standing crop of wholecrop barley. Big bulk of leaf and grass, fine narrow seed heads but good length. Barley not overly thick when walking in it but should add bit of value when filled out next week or so. £180/acre?
Buying and trying to be fair. Bought nice 1st cut grass for £140 last month. What price range would u put it in considering barley isn't too thick?are you buying or selling? 180 wouldn’t cover the rent round here
Yeah in round £200 here for that sort of crop if good covering of grass to make up the tonnesBuying and trying to be fair. Bought nice 1st cut grass for £140 last month. What price range would u put it in considering barley isn't too thick?
