As said sell your old one at a sale, Ill bet there is more than the brakes wrong with it.
IWT dealer network or any other trailer outfit will have decent 2nd hand trailers checked, fully serviced & ready to go in stock, they probably take your old one as a trade in.
If feeling flush buy a new one.
In the grand scheme of things new trailers are reasonably cheap when you consider what they are doing & the use they get.

Need to identify the brake system used, Alko perhaps.
I had the brakes on my 80's stock trailer refurbished by Motiv Trailers, Craven Arms a few years ago, might be worth a ring.

I have a sound IW trailer here, but no gates (or hinges) on it. Asked IW for the bits - they couldn't supply 🙄
Where can I get the gates, or rather the keroin wood slats that will make the gates?.
The hinges should be relatively straight forward.

Good bunch there, very helpful I found when after parts a while back.

Better get some alloy from a local stockholders and use that. Keruing is dear now, and heavy.

The brake backplates and shoes aren't daft.
The big, deep brake drums are daft.
It's not worth it.
I went through a 30 year old one last autumn, used it to sell calves, then bought a 5 year old triple axle when one cropped up in TFF land.
A modern looking one will draw less attention at the roadside.

I bought an old flatbed, make unknown at what seemed a bargain price. Needed new tyres and a spare wheel and tyre, decking had a couple of holes and the lights needed attention (no one uses trailer lights here). The old rod actuated brakes were interesting and of the one off type - once they had been applied they would not release. Many hours were spent under that trailer replacing rods, linkages and shoes. The decking was replaced twice in my ownership, I skimped on materials the first time. New lights and a tow hitch and I was ready to roll. The bed was galvanised but the chassis was not. The manual reverse lock was a pain on narrow lanes, needed to find an uphill section and enough room to get out of the car before it could be released. Eventually sold it at a bargain price to a couple of pikies who drove off with the lighting plug trailing on the ground. :banghead:

You could have saved all that time, bought a shiny new one and still had the pikies drive off with it?

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
