We use to have set, did a good job but where a pain for blocking on soft ground and would eat bearings for fun! Use to have to carry a couple of complete bearing hubs on stock all the time as it would knacker the shaft when they went. Think they where between £90-150 depending on where you get them from.
Personally they wouldn’t be my first choice if I where looking for a set of short discs.

We run a set. They are OK. Don't actually have too much bother with bearings. Have a spare unit ready to quick change. As Phil says, if you don't notice the hub and shaft will knacker
Decent job in lighter land, definitely better discs available for heavy ground. Can block easily if soft.

Wearing feet for the legs are expensive at £35+. We have two sets and weld on a Dowdeswell plough point, only £8, and lasts longer

Whilst we are on this topic, anyone have an opinion of the agri linc replacement hubs for these vs original or have a cheap source for wearing parts?
if you google skf bearings and hubs they do avast range, your local bearing factor should be able to help

Agrilinc hubs were OK but IIRC the cap on the end was a lot bigger than the original and would occasionally run in the soil and would either wear away or come loose letting soil in which might be where some of the bearing problems above came from.

Edit. Just had a look on their website and it does look as though the copy hubs are slightly different now more like oem.

If anyone’s interested I have a couple of hubs built up plus some hubs and shafts (may/may not be serviceable) and some seals/bearings. Open to offers (wouldn’t need to be much).

I have a variety disc.
I done thousands of acres with it.
I can honestly say I never had a bearing go.
I did grease religiously though, but not over grease, 1 pump in each bearing every day.
They work well on lighter ground, not heavy enough on baked out ground.

On reflection I wouldn't buy another, I'd go for a carrier type, or the pro forge version.

Thanks for the replies.
It's only going to be used for scratching a seedbed for the various stewardship schemes I have.
There's an XL version locally that seems to be up together and not silly money.
So thought it might be worth a try.
Have an Variocast unit off my Einbock harrows which I could put on it, if it works out
