A good start helps! Too many hp here but a decent seedbed. With the weather forecast as it is, this won’t get rolled but it will get starter DAP.
You need to talk to someone in Suffolk ;)(y)

Hope you are keeping well.

That should be rule #1 in agriculture. The crop is in the ground now, we had over an inch of rain last night and assume Brisel had similar.

16-19mm rain in the last 24 hours, mostly last night here. What altitude are you at?

We host a Davis here for KisanHub (NIAB TAG) but it under reads rainfall a lot. Look up station KH018 on the Davis station map. Link

neighbours which is slap bang in between my last two pictures looks good too. 50cm sowing with a converted subsoiler. Looks a reasonable seed rate.

We're at 80/85m just across the Tees from you but had twice the rainfall, which isn't unusual.

I am probably as close to Eppleby as you. My house is within a few m of the rain guage's sponsor in my pic ;)

Anyone think flea beetle populations may have peaked and crashed? Happens so often in nature
The peak migration is normally around the Bank Holiday weekend, so I guess we'll know next week...
I have a feeling too that that you maybe right, numbers into store were massively down on last year and there doesn't seem to be any number around... at the moment at least !!

I hope the osr does well this year for everyone growing the crop, it does have the perfect growing conditions at the moment. (y)
I'm still glad I'm having a year off osr.
It needs to be £430t for the risk of growing it not the blessed £330.
I wonder what the average yield was across the UK this harvest? 2.7t ha?
