Morning all,
Could anyone tell me if Ovivac P plus is a good alternative to Heptavac P please?
My lambs are nearly a year old and due the annual jab but I can't get heptavac.
All advice and worldy knowledge appreciated!
Thanks.

It covers pretty much the same diseases with one or two exceptions (see data sheets for exact details).

Theoretically, they'll tell you that they need 2 jabs to get full cover but I fail to see how a sheep's immune system knows whether it got the exposure from Ovivac or Heptavac, or for that matter from Covexin or Bravoxin.

Couldn't get Heptavac when we wanted to give our ewes their pre lambing jabs, so just used one jab of Ovivac here.

Seriously thinking of 'kicking the lot into touch' in the future - MSD have behaved like ars#holes for the last two years.

When the research have been done (companies will not fund it) it is normal that using a different make of vaccine for the booster will give slightly better immunity levels then using the same make as used for prime.

But the risk is a little higher as neither company have paid to verify the outcome.

Ovivac and Heptavac are both made by MSD though... as is Bravoxin

This debunks your theory. The line more likely is each product are designed/tailored for different target groups - Ewes, lambs etc...

Covexin10 is made by Zoetis (and is an identical product to Bravoxin, even the Datasheet is the same)

Been told by a supplier that the problem with Hep and Ovivac is that it’s made in the UK but shipped to Holland for bottling and packing. The paperwork post brexit is making the shipping a real issue

Lots of problems across the pharmaceutical industry caused by it

But of course the warnings were just scaremongering
