Parlour radio

Get some earphones.

You can still hear things as long as you don't have it stupid loud, just the same as if it were a radio or speaker. Also a set of working eyes is generally required for milking so they will help too.

Music/podcasts/books make a boring job more bearable.
I kind of like the idea that the cows will benefit from the music too. I’m more of a classic FM than Motörhead sort of girl 😂
I have been singing to them so far 🎵

Highly recommended but not cheap. Several neighbours got stuff nicked fortnight ago.
Think my radio going might have saved us.

Spend your money turning vacuum pump into variable speed. Get a parlour ISO test to identify vacuum leaks and cure them .
Then not only will you be saving electricity but get away with a cheaper radio !
I remember when we fitted our first parlour 30 years ago ,and it was a Fullwood with those light blue Mushroom pulsators that went THUNK THUNK .
Headache making stuff ,till we changes for Vaccar electric pulsators and now Fabdec SCR meters and pulsators ,but I agree ,our variable speed vac pump is only 15 yds away from the front of the parlour but it sounds like a Ford transit ticking over ,so so quiet :)

Hopefully a lot more reliable than the average Transit!:)

I bought a Dewalt radio for maintenance work but hubby stole it and has had it in the parlour for the last two years. Certainly loud and clear enough as he has it blasting all the time.

Shokz bone conducting Bluetooth headsets are bloody marvellous, £80 though, but fairly shite and abuse resistant and you can hear everything
Piping the clean air inlet for the pulsators to an outside area cheaply gets rid of a surprising amount of noise for anyone in the tinkering mood
