Hi, seen a grand wee tractor we need for our small holding a hours drive away in the tractor. Iv seen a tractor online and the dealership is demanding payment before delivery. Was just wondering what people’s thoughts were. It isn’t local

Yes bought a 7810 silver jubilee from tractor dealer in Italy, deal was done via pics and info on WhatsApp. If they're a proper business paying them by bank transfer using an IBAN number includes business address and bank address. Worked okay for me.

If it’s a hour away I really don’t see what your problem here is? If your parting with a fudge load of money and worried about it... drive the hour... pay the money..... follow the truck home....

I think he means the small holding he wants the tractor for is a hours drive away from main farm,I may be wrong though

No no, I was saying the reason why I need a wee loader. Our small holding is an hours tractor drive away from the home farm

Alexander mills is in the north, and is a reputable dealership. They’re just trying to protect themselves, in the same way as you are. They’re not likely to stiff you, but you are rather far away if the machine doesn’t perform after delivery. I would say talk to them, but in the end you may have to pay if you want to do the deal.

I have bought a slurry tanker, dual spreader and power harrow from alexander mills all unseen but with plenty of good photos and honest descriptions. No issues with any of the machines when delivered. I think the first time I delt with them I paid upfront and after that we had a mutual trust.

Trouble is trust from dealers to customers is almost something from the past/history as dealers have been shafted by people taking machines for trail and often done damage or tractors have totally disappeared or money has been defaulted up on and causes dealers considerable expense in retrieving machines or even 100% total lost of the machines. Dealers have overheads and these have to be met and the good customers will cover these hits .

What about putting it on finance and then paying off in full asap.

Set up and option to purchase fee are the only cost and can payback straight away with no penalty under 25k iirc

Completely genuine. i paid him £40k with vat for my tractor and turned up a week later. As said just do some sensible checks on bank details. My bank (Natwest) now does a pre check to make sure everything adds up.

Explain about ireland? If you were selling your car, would you send it to another country without having the money first? Worst dealing ever had was from an english man, sent lorry to collect item and it couldnt be loaded as his tractor was out on hire, then he duly sends a bill for storage, never did get the machine

It’s Northern Ireland. You might not realise but we’re still in the UK. And our wee country puts the backbone in fair bit of your agricultural industry.
I’d think Mills should be genuine enough
