Plotting points on a showfield.

I'm involved with our local agricultural show.

Every year when we set it up it takes a while to decide where everything goes.

This year once it's setup I'd like to accurately mark where everything goes. So next year I can use something to identify same points, for marquees, show field, pens etc

What 3words isn't accurate enough.

Is there any apps etc we could use?

I'd like to digitise the show field into 1m squares if possible.

Builders, civil engineers must have something when building roads, houses etc.

It's a public park, so can't leave anything permanent.

You need someone with access to a GPS stick, they are very accurate down to about a mm

If not wanting to fo down gps route which would be the bells and whistles solution, could use a brash of these markers driven into the ground to identify corner(s) of each stall etc once set up, draw up the layout and take rough measurements between each one. Think can get ones with metal stalks so can be found with metal detector and the colours stand out pretty good too (this is all assuming the park is maintained... grass cutting wise)

Interested in this also for the same purpose. Presumably it would really need to be something hand held to then find the appropriate co ordinates again the following year to mark out the same stands/taps/rings/ marquees etc in the same places.

Used to here of people geo caching- think this used a hand held gps to find locations other people had already logged, so would have to stand at each corner of marquees and write down relevant co-ordinates i guess- not very slick though and no idea if it would be accurate enough.
