Poor attitude towards potential customers

In June, I called a company called Bainbridge engineering regarding some sets of Kramer brackets. Lady on the phone tell me to send photographs of the type of implements I wanted to attach.
Couple of days later I rang back as hadn’t heard anything and was told “ we are too busy because it’s the Yorkshire Show 2 weeks don’t you know “ , by the way this was a different lady.
They never rang me back, I ordered the brackets from Agri Linc . Came very next day.
Bought a new Albutt Muck grab couple of weeks ago from a dealer.
Hope they sold loads at Yorkshire show, won’t be selling me F all .
The daft thing is the first person I spoke to said they had them in….. I just wanted some advice on how to attach.

Called Oliver’s seeds as reseeding 35 acres and send me a catalogue every year , 2 weeks ago , heard nothing. Why do these companies advertise their wares if no intention of following up potential sales ?
Rant over.

It's strange isn't it because good customer service should be the backbone of these smaller companies to compete with the likes of Agri-Linc or Kramp, but getting a proactive sales person is a real rarity at the moment. I don't know if it's the lack of incentive, i.e too high a pay with little performance based rewarding, or just poor training of ever rotating staff.

It's alright when it's one company as you can just blacklist them for the near future but, when it's most purchases, it becomes a real slog to actually get hold of what you want.

On a broader perspective, it's no wonder companies are favoring an online retailing model to cut out the middle man because it's becoming a failing link between seller and customer.

Thats a coincidence, i rang them probably around the same time,
Lady rang back NEXT DAY and mentioned Yorkshire show, said they could make what i required and take it to the show before delivery to me
Sent me some measurements and prices
They were responsive and polite, and thats the view i take of them

Likewise I’m giving my take. Maybe she thought we were the same person?🤷

I’ll give a shout for Cherry Attachments…. Very good bunch to deal with.
I did ring cherry attachment’s and spoke to the boss himself !!
He was very helpful. He rang me back with several different arrangements and prices and very honestly told me they are too expensive for what I need and told me how to fabricate the job myself for a fraction of the price. Can’t say fairer than that, we have a JCB that’s all on cherry buckets,

Sid B is making stuff in a small way in a big world. Some enquiries will slip through.
It's a pain trying to get anything done around here in first 2 weeks of July.

Personally I find that it is often the "professionals" eg lawyers, bankers that are the least professional.
If they want something, you jump to. Vice versa, not so much
Still waiting for an answer from bank 9 weeks after asking
Banks don’t really answer now as if they aren’t interested, even when you have your ducks in a row

Seems the normal these days.there are obviously exceptions like mentioned above but I'm amazed at the companies you have to chase.as I've mentioned before the smaller businesses are not worth bothering with for lots of companies and I'm sure we all could name plenty of them

Claas are good for parts they usually have what you want somewhere in the system

i know so why didn't Mkt Harborough check the other branch's? Sleaford did!
I don’t know. We had Farmway at Piercebridge used to be good for Claas parts Tony in the stores and Colin in the fitting shop you could nearly always get sorted between them Colin would even let you use his workshop. If they didn’t have the part Tony would find it somewhere in the system
The good old days too much has to be ordered now in fact most stuff

Nick Young for JD parts very good but if you get a male on the phone their telephone manners are nowhere near as good as the females . The males seem to want to make it their job to make you sound stupid (which I am but there's no need for them to highlight it ) , the females very helpful.

I needed a crown wheel and pinion for a rake rang some one in Lincolnshire southern harvesters maybe? For one they said they would likely have one (quarter of the price) but needed the part number to be sure. I rang the local dealer (no longer in business) for the part then asked for the part number just in case on the off chance I might have one here. He gave me the number then when he asked me if I wanted to order it I said I would have to check to see if I had one he told me to F off I said thanks I’ve got the number now. 🤓

Curry's call centre, not only do they not have a clue about the products they sell, but then make disparaging comments about potential customers to their colleagues while still on the phone.
