What’s everyone’s thoughts on rolling post emergence on spring cereals to encourage rooting and tillering. I’m planning to roll all of ours next week now it’s all got 3 leaves or more and it’s soaking up some fert after the rain.

Does rolling more than once keep giving benefits? If so, how long would you leave between?

It's not like ringing a cash till that pays out every time. I've had a fair bit of rain so won't be rolling anything more for fear of soil damage even though I've had a few slugs pop up during that wet period last week. Putting successive wheelings in will compromise your crop under those wheels.

The first pass pays back the most, then each subsequent one pays less. As above, stop when stem extension starts as you'll damage the ear as it forms & moves up the stem.

Rolled a good portion of our spring barley for the second time this week, always find it helps left some very forward bits.
