This field was mucked mid August and has been Direct drilled its a Weaving GD, therefore no incorporatio.
The muck was well composted over the summer and spread using a Rolland spreader with broadcasting discs at 8m widths.
You have to look very hard to see any of it now

I do like my Disc spreader.

Direct into eaten off cover , @Clive sort of land you could pull over with a kkk and a thorn bush and get a seed bed , going quite nice for a change to last taty field
This is field we where supposed to have demo of two well know strip till drills but with weather are delayed

the seed bed is already there before its cultivated, certainly one that grew the last crop anyway ........

why so compelled to make a new one every 12 months?

I think in time we will see more disc spreaders about. If an arable farm has a supply of organic matter, the saving on P and K alone will pay for the spreader. The ability to spread from tramlines will be invaluable.
I spread at 12m but reckon I could go to 24 if I wanted to. Will only spread gypsum at 8 but try to spread with muck when we can.

We had a bit of a look at a new Bunnings Disc spreader last year. Streets ahead of my ageing Roland but massive money for may small operations l, unless I wanted to dip my toes into an already over crowded contracting market.

None of it is cheap, to be fair you might be able to pay someone to do your work or even hire a machine for the right money to do what you want and from tramlines. I used to enjoy spreading broiler muck and sewage as you knew there would never be any concrete, bales, string or big foreign bodies in it!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
