Starting doin more on other farms after finishing up days work and thought price list to give to the farms / small holders is best as on farm thought £20 was fair for 3hours working two dogs gathering a hill full fern and another only willing to pay ten per hour wail I'm using own shearing machine dogs and foot bath that's without travel expenses on both

dagging 1 phup to 20 sheep
50p phover 20

I wouldn’t want to be paying £20/hour. Some have tried that round here and spend a lot of time looking for work. £16/£17 is enough really unless there running the job but to be told what to do that’s enough. I got a bloke who does some weekends and he is around that and it seems plenty for ridding round on a bike and ringing me (or ignoring) every problem.

You're going to be a poor, busy person, who spends half his life chasing up small debts. Better off charging more and finding 2-3 regular people. Self employed rate has to be £15 an hour or you're going to be earning under minimum wage after national insurance contributions, which you'll want to keep up to maintain your pension allowance.

Would be travel charge then 50 for shearing up to 12 -15 them price go up bit don't take on flocks bigger than 30 to 40 as tend fit few in one day or do in evenings
Yeh that is what I have been doing this year, I broke it down charging £15 per head up to 5, then dropping it to £10 per head up to 20, then dropping to a standard £1.80 per head (Except Ryelands which are £5 per head) and then charging £15 per hour of travel. Not had anyone come back and complain or argue the price.

This is mainly for small holders and odd farmer around my area during my spare time after I finish work during week
Someone pointed out to me that a lot of the smallholders are doing it just as a hobby and don't want to be stressing. They aren't looking for the flock to be their main income they just want to know everything is getting everything it should and they are happy. So are happy to pay a fair price so don't be scared to charge a bit more £15 an hour is a reasonable rate.

Your meant too charge small holders and odd jobs more money for the inconveniences not less 😂😂😂
Farms by me want to be charged less than that had one farmer try paying me £20 total for travel and then working the two dogs for 3 hours on a fern filled mountain and another only wanted pay £10 hour without the travel they were 20miles away from me plus gathered there 90+ acres on own with the dogs wail supplying the foot bath to use and dagging sheep

If you are capable and have 2 good dogs you'd be wanting £20+ in my opinion.

If everyone says they won't pay that and you don't get enough work then it's simply not viable in my opinion, and time to think on something else. You set rates to earn a living and make a profit, not to get jobs.

Woman I know is self employed carer/cleaner/ homehelp, and she is £25/per hour for some context
