i “think” i have worked out what it is but no idea what it may have fitted

just posted - what you can’t see clearly is a metal spring around it’s external diameter that holds the segments together

i think its some sort of seal or bearing and googling the name on it seems to suggest that correct but no idea what machine it might have come from.

I remember the old style front pto’s use to use something very similar. A chamfered piston would expand the blocks against a drum to engage the drive. I’ve seen a very similar setup on a newer grimme harvester as well.

We used to run a lot of Grimme kit / harvesters so that would explain it !

It looks exactly like the separator clutch that my dad replaced years ago on the claas mercury combine that he had, don't know if it was fitted to any other claas combines
