Raining

After 2017 I'll never go by that thinking again, 2012 we still got everything done, 2017 we did just over half and the rest had stock turned into it or was flailed, then what we did manage to make was a nightmare.
Reservoirs were low here until recently which is uncommon. We had similar problems with crop.

Interestingly, on this day last year we drove home after a wet weekend at the Welsh coast, thunder and torrential rain all the way back, 10 mile from home and the road was single file as a field of maize had burst out onto the road.

We had done our silage and I was smug that the rain would do wonders for our second cut.. Another week (iirc) of rain followed, it then went dry, very dry. We never had a second cut.. It burnt up or had to be grazed.

I'm not going to moan about the rain too much yet, although I had forgotten how horrid it is!
I have visions of popcorn piling up over the road.

Everything here has had a good enough drink for now I reckon. Be nice to start hay making now. No doubt it will dry up bloody quick when it does again.

When it has been dry here its been for a couple of weeks at a time. Great for getting on with things but not so for plants, etc. Think its caught up now though, plenty of grass about.

Pissing down again at 8pm tonight... Land getting very wet and cattle looking fed up. Enough rain now thank you;)

Beginning to make me think about a repeat of the "Summer" of 2012. T'was the year it was so wet and I had bought the little 50hp on fat turf tyres, and reckon I did ALL my hay and silage with it, as nothing else would travel...

Still raining here and still VERY fed up! Ground is holding just but won't take much more before I have to shift the cows off their summer grazing and up the hill, not having them trash decent ground so early on when it will no doubt come fit again

Popped over from home to near Churchstoke to look at a Red Tractor at a nearby dealer. Not far from @neilo territory...

There is a lot of land that will not be cut or grazed anytime soon

I took the quad up to Four Crosses today. Lots of fields under up to 3’ of water round Welshpool, with plenty of it covering young maize.

I dare say it will be gone as quickly as it came, but not sure how long maize stands being submerged.

The maize is very yellow everywhere. Not enough sun.

Based on my Sweetcorn in the garden... not long! The other problem is the pre-em herbicides being washed out.
