Has there been any confirmation that more permits will not be issued?

As for Brussels wanting to prove a point, do you think Macron is going to tell the Yellow Vests that there'll be a lamb shortage? Or Merkel tell her electorate that they can no longer buy UK goods.

Customs have been given no extra resources because they'll have nothing extra to do!

As for Calais what preparations have they been able to put in place when they don't know what they're preparing for.

Milk quotas were bought in at 23.00hrs on 31st March 1984 to take effect from they next day! Agreeing to carry-on-as-before is a piece of cake!

The Euro politicians will tell their people it’s all our fault for not doing the deal, being prepared or for having the temerity to leave in the first place. They will shrug their shoulders and I would imagine life will mostly go on as before unless they are directly involved in exporting goods & services to UK.

I’m sure we’ll get what we need into the UK. I’m less confident we’ll get much out under anything other than WTO rules until we’ve got an agreement in place.

The EU did do something. It discussed, acted and negotiated as one whereas the UK has behaved as if it were 27 different nation states without a clue what it wants.

Those that believe the they need us as much as we need them idea are kidding themselves on as to the UK’s importance to them.
Only 10% of EU exports are to the UK whereas 44% of the UK’s go to the rest of the EU.

It’s this thinking that our single country is directly comparable to the rest put together that largely got us into the current situation.

Andrew Neil on the night of that referendum calling it perfectly. Not

The price of Spanish lamb has not fallen as abruptly since then Christmas as it had done in other years. Large meat companies comof Campofrío or El Pozo are opening new ways to sell Spanish lamb in the EU to replace the British.

It is what is seen and commented on here.

Of course the mood of the ranchers is rising.

Cutting their noses off to spite their faces is exactly what they will do. There are higher priorities for Brussels than losing a bit of business for a while. Our lot, meanwhile, still have no Plan B because they think they will get a deal through. I was having a drink with a local Customs officer last week. They are going to let everything through because they’ve been given no extra resources to do anything different. They’ve been warned that the plans will only start to be drawn up if we leave with no deal 29th March. The only exceptions were the provisions for Operation Stack on the M20 and those ejits at Ramsgate with no ferries.

Calais customs, meanwhile, have spent the last 9 months preparing for no deal.
couldn't it be a case that they won't commint the manpower to issuing the certs because at the minute uk truckers don't actually need them.

Or it could be that they will need a few civil servant administrators to process the applications, do the registration etc - these things take time to set up properly, and we still don't know what the system will be (if any). The sad fact is that anything other than a postponement will cause trouble - just because the implementation will take time.

I was under the impression that the Spanish breeds were bred for wool - the Merino originally
came from Spain, or they were bred for their milk for cheese making. I am happy to be corrected
if meat production was to the fore. I am thinking about the quality of the meat, or will French
consumers be happy with poorer meat - as long as the price is right ?.

The world is getting smaller and smaller and there is everything in almost all places, and if there is not, it arrives quickly.

The price of sheep's milk in Spain has dropped considerably, there are livestock that are moving to the production of lambs. The pig farms are also increasing a lot, as the Spanish state has signed a preferential agreement with China to export ham

No , the EU has signed it . individual members cannot do trade deals , that's why we're leaving

Or , it's been done on WTO terms

Is this the agreement you refer to?

Looks like Spain has done it.

Which is the fake news? Spain doing the deal or Individual members not being allowed to do trade deals.

As the deal was signed by the Spanish Prime Minister it looks like the fake news is the latter.

That seems to have been the problem with the EU, there seems to have been many things the Southern European states have been able to do that we are not..
Probably all down to interpretation of the rules, they looking for loopholes whilst this country has gold plated them,

There should be plenty of redundant Euro MPs that could do that.....wonder how they are preparing for the gravy train that they are on to dry up .

Different skill sets. Would be just as well to ask them to replace all the foreign surgeons we are kicking out.

This has potential to be a real problem, not a joke like you make it out.

Poor quality meat? Merino is widely recognised by farmers in countries where Merinos are available as the best eating meat of all breeds. Fine textured, low sheer testing (high tenderness) and very flavoursome.
It may be of surprise to you that 2 Merino meat brands (18 month old animals from NZ mountain lands) have a large share of the restaurant hotel trade servicing NZ's burgeoning tourist industry because chefs receive the most compliments for those meals. The consumer is always right.

Ocado UK's largest and voted best on-line supermarket since 2010, has recently signed a large deal with NZ's Alliance Group (largest processing international trader of lamb in the world) for chilled SILERE Alpine Origin Merino, a part of Alliance brands under the "Pure South" logo.
Merino farmers cannot supply enough animals to fill contract space. This product commands a substantial premium. Poor quality? Yeah right.
