had the gestapo in today.

They tell me that they can do unannounced visits now even if I’m not there.

I said if I find anyone in buildings etc I would call police inspector tells me it wouldn’t make any difference.

Now as he was told buildings are kept locked for fert storage etc I assume he meant they can use force to gain entry thru locked doors/gates etc?

Or as I’m suspecting he was just throwing his weight about?

That can't be right ? I thought only the ministry could turn up unannounced ?
And even the police would need a warrant to force entry ?
Or am I still stuck in the 1970's.......

That is a disgrace. There is no way any voluntary body should be allowed to enter operational premises unannounced and with no site personnel present.

I strongly recommend that all of you write to the busy bodies and strongly word a letter mentioning your duties under HSE regulations and telling them that intrusion on to your property will be met with legal action if not reasonable force to remove them.

What in the world was the twit referred to in the OP thinking?

An unannounced visit is one thing, but unaccompanied trespass is a totally different matter.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the on people who can enter your property without a court order is hmrc.

Believe so too. Had a run in several years ago with an Officer from local Council's Trading Standards who had been wandering around the farm and buildings when we were out, unannounced and unwelcome. I contacted the NFU, who came down on him from a lofty height via the Council's CEO. He changed his policy...
