Just to round this off. I've spoken to NSF this morning. the inspector has over stepped the mark in several areas and will be spoken to accordingly by his boss.

they were particularly concerned by the data protection stuff. I haven't reported them to data protection but the chap on the phone at NSF seemed very concerned about it.

And for the record they CANNOT start wandering about on farms unannounced it seems that was a clear over stepping of the mark by the inspector.
