Redrock drawbar snapped

Out of curiosity has anyone had an issue with their redrock slurry tanker drawbar snapping, ours literally snapped the welds off leaving only the ring attached to the tractor and the tanker down the field!

Looks very little weld pentration on the two side pieces

Not prepped at all and very little penetration. I laugh at all the ones on here who say they would get an expert/manufacturer to weld new rings on etc as they'd do it right. The reality is that they are no more qualified than a farmer to weld it on unless they are coded which none of them are.

Yes but I’m concerned as the same useless f**ker may have tried to weld ours

My understanding is one person does all the welding on each tanker and either a code or their initials are on a plate on the tanker so any problems can be traced to the welder. That is current practice how far that goes back in relation to age of the tanker obviously I don't know.
Things go wrong it is how the company deals with that is important.

That wants reporting back to the manufacturer ASAP. Your lucky no one was killed if it had been on the road the consequences could of been very serious.

I've played with welding since early teens, built/repaired numerous loader buckets,bale forks, silage facer you name it. You get a feel for welding, while I don't make glossy photo worthy beads I do not ever worry about my welds going anywhere.

SOMETIMES broken welds are caused moreso by poor engineering than welding and the poor fellow in the 'welder up sonny ' department is wrongly accused.

After reading some of the threads on here about axles snapping and drawbars breaking I’m definitely getting a bout of “anticipatory anxiety” when I go at my slurry .
Glad no one got hurt and hope you get sorted.

Welding on that is a disgrace and no wonder it failed. But one thing many folk don't seem to think about is that tractors with front and cab suspension are so much more comfortable and can be driven faster on rough roads/ground but the lump you're towing has got to keep up.

Hearin of a few problems with redrock tankers recently. Dont think they are as good as when sammy hughes ran it. Imho the newrock would be the tanker of choice.
