It’s a bit more polite towards the farmer than usual. But is full of the usual waffle using 10 words where 1 would suffice. And still doesn’t say anything about how paying to be a member makes us better off financially.View attachment 1154090
Wonder if they'd like to attend any BFU meetings.
Also, they seem to talk about the new grain standard as "feed" standard. We can see their game, and afaik they aren't willing to allow the farmer to have a RED add-on. This doesn't seem all too helpful
They should not call it "feed standard". It's up to the buyers to decide if they're happy with that standard.
NFU sticking up for farmers again . I'm really glad my family aren't members any longer.
I get my fa membership matters by email and can honestly say i have never read one of them, just press the bin button everytime.
It won't be toast unless we make sure it is.Me too.
I think by the end of the year RT will be toast. To respunding applause from industry.
But it will be a hollow victory. Will be replaced by a watered down version, which NFU will claim as being fit for purpose blah blah. In reality will just be beginning again of RT, version 2.0.
Only this time they'll make sure it's backed by Whitehall and mean you can only have funding if your farm assured. That way they keep the control, but this time permanently.
Same here ,they appear in my junk box and i just delete themI get my fa membership matters by email and can honestly say i have never read one of them, just press the bin button everytime.
I’m sorry, can someone explain what this bit means from the letter please? I can’t make head nor tail of it:
Member Matters - November/December 2023
Dear Red Tractor Member,
Welcome to your Winter 2023 edition of Member Matters, in which we explore some of the benefits of your Red Tractor membership and take you behind the scenes of how, when activists strike, we defend farms that comply with our core standards.
I want to start with brief comments regarding the NFU's review of Red Tractor Governance. Despite what you may have read in the agricultural press, the review is truly independent and my thanks to Minette Batters (NFU President) for emphasising that in her own recent comments.
The NFU has commissioned the review and the scope and remit has been agreed with Red Tractor's owners. Those owners are: the NFU, the farming unions of Ulster and Scotland, AHDB, Dairy UK and the British Retail Consortium.
So, Red Tractor is the subject of the review, not the designer... or the owner!
At the end of October, Red Tractor confirmed our complete support for the Governance Review and our commitment to cooperating fully to ensure openness and pace.
Since then the NFU has appointed consultants Campbell Tickell to complete the review. Campbell Tickell are a management consultancy, specialising in governance, and advising charitable, not-for-profit and public sector organisations.
Campbell Tickell's work has already started and the NFU has said that the emerging findings will be presented to NFU Council at the end of January. The final report should be made available in mid-February. Clearly, we will keep you updated once these findings are available.
In the meantime, it is Christmas next week! Let me take this opportunity to wish you and your families a happy holiday season.

Yeah i fully expect the review to say it was fineIt won't be toast unless we make sure it is.
The review will say a few tweaks needed and lessons will be learned.
A new feed only standard will appear as part of RT then the farm tax continues to keep funding the merry go round of the cartel.
