Sanderson 726 Hydraulic

Hi guys in need of little help with a Sanderson 726 Teleporter with solo controls. This machine is an old trusty workhorse. But over the last 18months it has started to become slow and underpowered on the hydraulics particularly noticeable after being used for 20min or so to the point of you cannot bring the boom back in and now unable to lift the back wheels. steering remains fine and never been a problem. Tried the easy obvious things (new fluid, filters) I have had the priority valve top off and all is clean and free moving and the pump is only warm to the touch so don't think the system if overheating and also tried operating the spools with a spanner direct on the spool block just incase it was an actuator problems.. I feel that I am at the stage of starting to need to spend some money on replacing parts but in my mind I feel its a spool block problem but I am after some guidance if anyone has come across this problem before. Many thanks in advance Martin.

Thanks for the reply's. not the screen in the tank I have had it out when I did the fluid. As for the pump I agree but my thinking on that would be the steering wouldn't work if the main hydraulics wasn't working. I can still steer fine while at the same time trying to pull the boom in.. But I agree it is a possible cause and is on the list of possible causes. thanks. Also I see you work at Pearsons Hydraulics? Not at Lincoln by any chance? I'm only at Newark could you test my pump and do any thing testing wise with the spool block if needed?

it will be 1 of 2 things or a combination of both!

number 1 on the list is the inlet section of the main danfoss spool block, this has a pressure modulating valve in it and they often play up resulting in poor flow and irregular pressure, when used for long enough will often cook the oil to near boiling point too.

Simple enough job, take spool block off and replace the inlet section and all seals between the slices, will need a pressure gauge to set the relief valve on the new inlet section after.

Number 2 is Hydraulic pump worn out. Now you would be daft not to at least clean the tank out and new oil (even if you already changed oil!)
new filters and personally i would replace that inlet section i mentioned above because if that is faulty it will cause a pump to fail if not fixed straight away. Plus if pump is worn out all the metal from that pump will have gone through that inlet section which long term will damage it anyway. Yes i fully aware there is a filter between the pump and the spool block but that does not catch everything and when blocked has a bypass valve on it anyway.

If your in the UK i can supply the parts if you want or i'm sure @Mr Happy can supply them also.

Steering will work fine often as it only uses something like 130bar max pressure, most of the check valves on the boom rams will need close to 120 ish bar to open them to make a ram move with or without a load on them.

Many thanks for that.. the the inlet section you mention you as can result in irregular pressure. I sometimes have it where the Hydraulics are not smooth they want to be jumpy all the time could this be linked?

I had a similar problem on a 625 - fine for 20 mins or so, then increasingly slow hydraulics
After a few wrong guesses it turned out to be an internal crack in one of the valve slices - been fine ever since

also if contacting you for these parts what details will you need or are they all the same?

Yes I work for Pearson Hyds but sadly not from there Lincoln branch. I'm based at there Norwich branch but happy to travel. I can test the pump either on or of the machine. Also I can inspect, repair and test the Danfoss valve in the workshop. The only problem currently is would this be considered as essential travel?

Sorry in the delay in getting back to you guys I have some pictures of the pump and spool block. I have also contacted the previous owner about the problem and he has given me another pump, he assured me it is in good condition and was replaced on another machine and did not the the problem. (The machine originally came from a wood yard where he had 3 of the same machine)
