@Selectamatic - blimey, you know what you're doing, that looks very good.
Superb work
Pity that guys with £KKKK of kit struggle to do the same

Plough like that up here in highlands all the time due to ploughing shallow ground and underlying slabs of rock which it disturbed wrecks the plow, can't plough uphill at all ,local estate tried it with large reversible and pulled up slabs size of a pool table then snapped 3 furrows off on one stone,so I end up doing field with trusty kv hydrein. My father always called it "going back empty". I often had to do it with the combine in badly flattened crops.

Only 0.2% of Wales is grade 1 and selectamatic is farming almost bang on in the middle of the biggest chunk of it.
Land as good as that you should grow some potatoes @Selectamatic
thought so. Been there, done that (fortunately only a small field)Running back to the other end of the field with the plough out of the ground, ploughing one way only.
Nice 1690 there ,I did some sowing earlier this week.
The ploughing had dried off well, so I put the power harrow though it. I know, before everyone jumps on me saying that a PH is overkill for my land, I don't have a decent springtine harrow on my hands, and truthfully, for the grassland ploughing the PH worked well.

From previous years experience, I know that this is funny soil, it will cap over if it has a heavy downpour, to try and stop this, I tried to do as rough of a job as possible with the Power Harrow, I set her on the slow speed, and pushed on as much as I could with the 1690, it worked out ok, with some clods mixed in with the finer stuff.
Sowed 75kg of Westminster Barley, and put 50kg of 20/10/10 down the spout as well. Seems to have gone in ok, buried well enough, hopefully out of reach of the crows.

As usual, I'm not going to roll it now, if I do, It is likely to cap if it rains on it.
I hope the bugger grows!!
Nice 1690 there ,
Some variety of broom ,,its not wild broom ,that stuffs a nightmare in cereals as it originates from hedge bottoms and smothers everythingIt's bloody hot!
Went for walk around today, I'd not been to see my barley since i'd sown it, (a month ago yesterday) and was pleasantly surprised with what I saw!

When the warm weather has passed, and we get a rain shower to pull out the remainder of the weeds, I'll give it a spraying, some stingers and chickweed coming through, and a dock leaf or two.
Should I be cutting my hay in this glorious weather? It's only May, and have taken the decision to sit on it, wait for similar weather in June, or July, It's too green now, and would take a lot of making, even in this weather I recon.

What is this growing in my hay field, in patches all over the place, I recon they are wild oats, but can't be 100%, is that what they are?

Barley looks really well, how much fertilizer has it had this spring, and do you know the soil indexes of PK and lime? Not much wrong with nutrients by the look of it!
