Sexed semen Cogent v Genus

No, all heifers served with our own friesian bulls.
Mainly first service v subsequent, but not normally a problem to such an extent.
Have you had any of the straws checked for fertility? Guessing with the increased use of sexed, there maybe a drop in quality 🤔, and don't think the genus stuff has as many live swimmers, as I couldn't get a straight answer from the rep who was trying to flog it.

I have used 2M and 4M both with very good results but am not excited about the Cogent british friesian bulls.

Just realised I put this on the wrong section, if anyone can move it to dairy that would be great!

We use both and have decent results with both. Only time we have had a problem is with a couple of cogent bulls that none of the straws worked, not sure where the problem was but as a result buy a selection of bulls in small batches.

I’ve used both and an getting 51 to 54% on cows across different bulls. My problem is the silly contract cogent want you to sign for the privilege of buying some of their bulls!

You spend good money on sexed semen, and for the privilege, having bred your best cows to it, all the resulting progeny are theirs if they want them, for a modest fee. You have no refusal. I couldn’t believe what I was reading! I told them I wouldn’t sign it even if I got the semen for free.
