He's put up a couple for us, last time we asked to quote he never came to price. I wish he had, 2 years on and the shed leak, aren't finished and the fella has gone bust.

Kit buildings direct were brilliant with us but wouldn't trust their erector.. They use a 3rd party to put the sheds up and the communication isn't great between the 2- We fixed a date with kit buildings and they met with the guy to put it up but then he rang and said his diary was full!! Definitely recommend kit buildings direct though.. they also have some sheds ready to go

Kelly from Graham Heaths here :) We are 10% deposit on confirmation, foundations on completion, 90% balance on delivery and erection on completion. All staged and easy to follow. Please do your homework on whoever you choose, we've heard some horror stories recently from customers who lost their deposits from others going bump (one customer has lost his 3 times!!)

Thank you for joining in this and for such transparency. I find it very refreshing for companies to be so up front in this day and age when many seem to be as vague/commercially sensitive as possible.

Those that tell you to trust them seem to be the ones who are least trustworthy.
Those who tell you the facts and leave you free to choose, are often the ones you can trust most.

Sorry to jump on this thread guys, but is it normal for a shed builder to ask for for the hold down bolts to be put in by another contractor and a pull out test carried out. I am having a shed put up by Shufflebottom but they don't do the setting of the bolts. Surely if you are putting up a shed it would be a one stop shop. I have asked a few contractors to do it and they said the reason they probably do this is that if the bolts are in the wrong place it doesnt become their problem! Let us know your thoughts or if you have had similar occurrences with shed builders.

I would always want a shed put up by the same person who does the foundations. It creates potential for an expensive mistake otherwise.

Have you asked Shufflebottom to quote for the setting of the bolts? I'm sure I have a quote from them where I asked them to do so.

Never heard of a pull-out test though.

Is this an agricultural shed, or industrial spec?

I had a Barn erected in 2020 and am doubling it in size next week, but with a different shed supplier/erector. Both did all the ground works themselves and the price quoted was for the full job. Other quotes back in 2020 were also for a full build service.

As someone else said to me, there is a potential area of conflict if different outfits do the work!

Cheers for the replies. It's an agricultural spec. The slab has already been poured it was 20m by 10m. And is the stronger c35 mix. If anyone knows a groundworker who can help with 20 or so bolts that would be handy. They send all the consumables, resin studs and templates etc. Just south of Oxford. Cheers
