Just been reading the thread.

Had a bite on my stomach 4 weeks ago. Got a little bigger so applied some antifungal. Seemed to slow it but 2 weeks ago again began to look a little more fierce. Not that big but 4 weeks is a long time without improveent.

Didn't feel great last monday and next day terrible pain on left side - bottom of my back round to belly button. Went to see gp and gave antibiotics cream for bite. Blood results on Weds morn showed an infection and now on antibiotics.

Bed ridden on the Tuesday but have had to persevere next 2 days as had cut grass. Very malaised and tired

Feeling lots better now but now have a swollen left eye lid.

Could this all had been shingles??

Do you have any idea what you were bitten by?
The inflammation with my shingles was quite spectacular, lucky that the blistering only burst in 2 very small areas. Looking back at pictures ooooorible.
What I am aware of is that a single infection only goes too one side of body at a time.

WoW having gone through that puts my shingles in the shade. Good luck and best wishes @Kidds
Thank you. I am much better now, with a bit of luck all that is behind me now and hopefully an MRI scan in the next couple of weeks will confirm that. I am back to work now, or as much as I am ever likely to be. :D
Put it this way, with your shingles I wouldn't want to swap places right now.

when you get the chance to have DOOOOOOO, although I had mine 18months before Shingles got me, at least I can say that I tried to protect myself by having the vaccination 1 day after my 70th birthday.

Reckon you have been bitten by a horsefly?

I was bitten on the arm once whilst soil sampling, twice on my right forearm. By 9am the next morning the wife insisted I go to the GPs immediately as my arm/hand had visibly swollen. GP took one look and gave me antibiotics.

The pain in your back around to the umbilicus is because the nerves in that region all join the spine at the same level. Don't reckon you had shingles if the blood test results showed an infection.

Shingles is caused by reactivation of chicken pox virus. It can be extremely painful, as in childbirth painful.

I do wonder why we don't just routinely vaccinate children for chicken pox now and avoid all this grief. Give people another jab at 50 and another at 70?
