Always used closamectin twice a year on the calves, 8-10weeks after turnout and a month before weaning/selling in the autumn without a problem. Vet advised save money and use ordinary wormer(non fluke) for the spring worm, didnt work in my opinion so got them in and wormed again but with closamectin which cured the husky/flukey coughing. Never have much problem with pneumonia tbh

The pneumonia reference was about the only reason I could think of for fluke causing a cough, but it would be a very extreme case where cattle would be pretty much cruelty cases, so it as good as certainly is not fluke causing the cough.

Which wormer didn't work?

What's the withdrawal gone upto?

Do you really need to worm at the same time? Must it be an injection?

Flukiver (Closantel) drench is 42 day withdrawal
Trodax injection is 49 days
Triclacert (triclabendazole) drench is 56 days (IIRC)

Most important question what are you doing - sheep or cattle??

Downland fluke and worm/levafas diamond oral drench levamisole + oxyclozanide 5 day withdrawal.

Dont have a problem in the autumn because i worm with closamectin, only had a problem in the summer when the paramectin seemed to fail to cure calves of worms/fluke. Wormed them again but with closamectin to put them right.

Unless you fluke cattle in the autumn/winter your not killing fluke with any effect.

I am reading them and your findings are very unconventional, and they suggest a weird phenomenon.
You're suggesting that drugs are not working on your stock, I'm just intrigued as to why.

You say you do them at weaning, are they treated/weaned at housing?

Closamectin was changed to 58 days i think - but i could be corrected and its 'old stock' cardboard sleeves

Yes it has been and this must have been elderly stock but it came from a reputable supplier.
