Just to drag it even more off topic, I found another pic on Google. You can see the post on the left and a covered socket in the middle of the door.

Just started to make one for a pal of mine ;)
Shouldn’t break, inch plate for the back plate with inch plate gussets welded to a 3/4” walled 8” tube with 3/4” flat bar welded underneath (don’t want it to bend:whistle:)

Could weld this on as a blade

But will probably use 1/2” plate and bolt some ply wood to it (don’t want to over engineer it:unsure:) lol

That tube is something I have been thinking about for ventilating the front of heaps on the slope where pedestals don't get covered properly

Well it was supposed to be a scrap heap challenge cheap grain pusher build, however the OCD in me just won’t let me drag the box section out and cut up the plywood:banghead:

So as it’s pee’d it down all day I chucked the trailer on and went shopping to my local steel reclamation yard to see what they had knocking about.

Ended up coming home with this little beauty for pretty decent money:)

Also got a 8X4 sheet of plate which I’m going to fold a little at the bottom and sides and some box for the head stock, pin & cone brackets should land tomorrow.

So now the big question is do I cut it down to 4m which was my original planned length or keep it the full 5.5m? which may be a bit excessive for what I need! Suggestions welcome(y)

Make the headstock end with the brackets etc, put it on the loader and drive about. Ifnit feels to heavy and cumbersome, cut it down.
When you’re happy with the length put the blade on.

Sounds like a good plan, it will mainly be the old man using it and he can do damage on a good day! Hence why I wasn’t originally going to make it to long! Just seems a shame to cut up a perfectly good length of tube:ROFLMAO:

Telescopic!

That way you can have it 4m and 5.5m! Best of both worlds! :woot:

We have a 14 foot Cherry one so about 4.2 metres on a 4 tonne 7 metre Merlo and you certainly no it's on there! If you move the joystick even a tad to quick you get an awful lot of machine bounce and its easy to slam the blade into the floor if you rnt careful. If only a couple of people are going to use it then go bigger but if you plan on letting students or your dad etc on it then shorter would probably be better and your grainstore roof will thank you!

Cut it to 4m. The bit that's left over would make a nice straw swath roller for the front linkage...
