We’ve got loads of the little blighters about too and the ground has no river/ stream close by? But they seem to manage??
digging down deep in the hedge banks or wherever its cool and predator safe? Their digestive design is close to that of horse.
the kids pet rabbits drink loads whatever the weather?

Rabbits do share a berysimilar GI tract to horses - hindgut fermenters.
It is well known that the Brumbies studied at King Canyon, central Australia, often water only every 2-3 days despite living in an arid environment.
Their population is continually expanding.
