Bill Beaumont is Lancastrian. However, I agree there’s loads of inequity in the honours system.
With a 5 year term and massive majority this government could have done so much more, were it not for Covid striking within 4 months. Absolutely lost the plot and Truss’s nominations should all have been vetoed.

BB played Union. To date, NO League player or official has ever been knighted yet 20 players or officials from Union have been. It’s an “Old Boys” thing

Also, I’ve lobbed this in to “Politics” as we’ve veered away from Mr Eavis/farming

Honours system is a busted flush. Every time they’re published, it just diminishes what they represent. And WTF are they doling out honours with “Empire” in them? Ridiculous

Sorry, I thought you meant Kevin hadn’t had one as he’s northern, therefore meaning Bill had one as he was southern. As I said the system is full of inequalities.

The very few of the aristocracy I have ever known, have in the main been very decent people, and certainly not deserving of such.
I know several and to be honest they’d be no great loss. My wife’s paternal and maternal grandfathers both have MBE’s based on their service to the empire but those days are long gone. A republic is long overdue.

Oh yes I can't wait to have a President Blair/Brown/May/Cameron/Ant&Dec/Branson/Campbell/and quite a few more failed politicians lording it around in their private planes.

I think I'll stay with good King CharlesIII and then King WilliamV thanks now I've thought about the first lady Lady Cherie.

No need for any of those people. The Prime Minister just becomes the President or assumes the powe of , nothing really changes . Obviously if you feel the need to worship the monarchy that’s fine. Personally I think the monarchy should have ended when the Queen died.

IMO the King should have a wee bit more power. We saw how limited and ineffective the monarchy was with its inability to deal with Johnson and his shambolic corrupt government.

Gracious NO. That is the way of autocracy. The whole point is that an accommodation with the Monarchy was met some 200 plus years ago - those at the time and subsequently have saved their necks and heads, literally, in return they get to keep the spoils of birth - the houes, palaces, crowns and tiaras. The downside is they are on call like caged animals at the Zoo. That was the deal. And it should remain the deal. The interference of Charles is irritating enough due to his privelige purely by virtue of birth.
