slurry robot for slatted floor - which one is the best?

Hi,

searching for new robot, which should replace my westermann cleanmelion. the pits for my 200+ cows are spread daily with straw/lime/water mix, so the robot must be strong. area to clean is ca. 1000 m³. slurry is always thick. I know some robot user, but they are only spreading absolutly minimum quantities of straw... Best regards freelancer

I can tell for nothing as the operator of 3, that the Lely discovery will struggle with anything a bit stiff which would include straw in muck.

Possibly a Joz may be heavy/robust enough but like all robots, prone to crashing

Would rather spend money on Rope scrapers if I'm honest and scraper the passage as whole rather than 1m at a time thats my opinion

Have you ever changed the wheel on the Joz? I’ve a DeLaval one (same thing?) wheel has went bald. It must be filled with rubber, looking £250 for a new one but a garden tyre is only £26. Just wondering if extra weight is needed? Could fill with foam but won’t be as heavy

Rope scraper never ever. My neighbour has just spend two days with 4x people for "service" on his rope sraper in a 200+ cows barn - only 7 years old.

I have been using Joz since nov 19.

It's a good solid machine. Does the job.

I would recommend however that you get slatts that are at 45 degrees to the direction of travel ..avoid 90 degrees.

It's not that it doesn't work it's simply because the rubber wear is excessive and risk of snagging is increased.

Crashes are commonplace on drier slurry when bot is free styling- ie not running against a wall. However you can reduce Crashes significantly if you maintain the rubber regularly..and get a couple of spare arm springs.

The learning process is tortue but it is surprisingly good at dealing with tricky areas as long as rubber is in good nick and floors aren't too dry / sprinkled with straw.

The interface is awful and clunky but it gets the job done. I'd like a manual overide that I could access remotely..rather like my feeder and m2s.. if the thing crashes it takes an hour to send a message..then waits for assistance. This can result in filthy sheds overnight.

Anyway..I'd give it a 7 out of 10 .

I have now an offer for Joz with water spraying funktion. ca 25.000 € inclusive tax.
@ foregoneconclusion: By the way, do you have a breeding bull in your herd and is the joz robust enough?

Hi

I haven't got a bull in my herd. I use Ai.

The joz is solid but I'd be surprised if a bull bothered with it. I've never seen my cows do more than decorate it..

How many cows will your joz have to clean up after?

We have a Joz silage pusher ... the jockey wheel at the front is tiny and we have to change it every month. The two main drive wheels are heavy but £500 each and you can’t reskin them apparently

Clearly has the wrong rope scraper then. Mines been in 8 years changed pulleys at 5 years an hours job. Broken rope back up and running in 1/2 hour. Fantastic equipment so simple cheap maintained be lucky if my scrapers have cost me £700 in 5 years.

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
