Small Big baler like a D800

Looking for a small big baler, one that does a small big bale.

I have been offered a New Holland D800 baler. I am told parts are no longer, so even though it seems to have been quite well looked after, it’s basically a bad buy and so I’m put off.

What other balers are out there that make a small bale and that I would find secondhand and also not be majorly power hungry? Contractor is not an option and budget and horsepower is at the lower end of the scale.

A D1000 would be better than the 800 with more spares available.
Quadrant 1150, or 4000.

You want either a D710, or a BB920 new Holland BB9040 was the last incarnation of it. Last 2 are pretty much the same baler. All do come up for sale, but not all that often. Plenty for sale in Europe, but at a price

D800 is apparently same sized chamber as D1000, so 90x60?? Modern equivalent would be 80x70 chamber size. The ones I mention above are an 80x47 chamber.

At the lower end of the budget scale you're looking at the following balers that make a 50x80 bale:
New Holland D710/Hesston 4600 (virtually same machine)
New Holland BB920 (slightly updated D710)
New Holland BB9040 (slightly updated BB920)
Class 1100
Class 1150 (updated 1100)
All the above no longer made.
If you're brave enough to go searching on the Continent you might find a Supertino 508. Supertino do a 50x80 and a 60x80 chamber baler, as well as the usual larger sizes. They are still making balers, so spares are available via their sole UK agent, but there's no UK dealer network.

Of all of these I'd guess that the Claas ones would have the best spares availability. I know the D710/Hesston 4600 is getting hard to find spares, not sure about the slightly newer NH models though.

Thank you for the replies so far. 50 x 80 is ideal but we could manage is it 70 x 80? Tractor running it would be 125hp so a bit less at the pto.

Only baling hay and straw on the flat. I’m in no rush yet, but will be by June!

I will have a look at the suggestions so far.

Claas make a 4000 baler now which is also an 80x50 bale size.

I’d go for an 80x70 only because we had a D710s in the 90s and it was painfully slow also they won’t make the bales that long we used to make them 6ft but from memory it wouldn’t go up to 8ft to go on a lorry. but we pulled it with 100hp 6cyl easy enough

My Hesston 4600 will make an 8 foot bale no problem, I run it at 7 feet and there is plenty of extra adjustment left on the knotter trip arm. You're right about the speed though, that was one reason I upgraded to a new Supertino, its much faster. Plus of course the Hesston was 30 years old this year, I felt it was time to move on.

Claas make a 4000 baler now which is also an 80x50 bale size.

The OP mentioned being at the lower end of the budget range so I assumed a Claas 4000 was a bit over budget.......

We run a mf185 on a 125hp tractor no problems. Does a 80x90 bale and has been a cracking baler

Have found another claas 1150. What are the pros and cons and what are the main areas I need to look at to get an idea on its condition etc? Any problem area etc? It seems quite straight and tidy from the photos, panel work straight and tidy etc etc.
