Smell of fresh cat pee in the morning

Have a recently vacated cottage, one room appears to have latterly been used as a cat latrine. Carpet is out, underlay out, windows open (not wide enough for any marauders to get in) and ventilated for about a month. Still stinks.

Noticeable staining on the wooden floor, feels like the smell is in the fabric of the room.

Any ideas on how to freshen it up? Will it just go away over time, dry out?

It looks like quite a full coverage across the whole floor. Higher concentration in the corners/ lower parts of the wall

Animal feed bicarb is around £17 for 25kg

That’s what I’m thinking, whether might need new floor

it will be deep in the grain when I got this place they had shut cats in one room it took ages and all new wood floor skirting plugs etc

They had pee'd in the sockets and corroded all the metal

Get disinfectant powder called Biosuper. It would absorb some of pishy smell. Also has quite a strong odour. Used for pig and poultry sheds

We used it in dogs shed when he was a puppy and not trained.

Have half a bag left if you want it.

It's not going to solve problem completely. But I'd think it would help .

Asked my daughter who is well versed in moggy matters, she says that baking soda will neutralise the niff

Odour sprays will only mask the problem.

If the carpets are out, buy a mop and bucket and give the floors a good soaking of decent quality undiluted bleach about £5/£10. Leave it overnight to work, rinse with clean warm water in the morning.

Once dry spray diluted bleach over the floor and the skirtings, leave this to soak in and dry out, this should kill the bacteria.

A good covering of neat dettol in a knapsack sprayer can freshen up rentals. Once used some original listerine through a watering can to freshen up a grim bathroom..

It'll smell better than cat pi$$.
