Look at the photo of the massey maintenance manual I posted, same oil front and back was always led to believe the front axle needed the 10w30 for the hydro diff.

I will double check, but I definitely put gear oil in the front hubs, maybe it's back end oil in the middle of the front axle

I'd say 1989-91 examples the best, Hi-Line cab with cab mounted blower but pre side mount gear-lever and pre paddle clutch.

I remember a studhand on one of Newmarkets bigger yards who used a 93 "L" reg 399 and he insisted on keeping it for many many years whilst turning down the options of new 4260 & 4360 because they were too plasticky

Yes, thats all towing though, not lifting ploughs on the link arms etc.

Look, I learnt to drive on an MF390T and an MF399, the 390T in particular looked just right for a tractor, so I am fond of them, but they had their weaknesses, the 390t snapped its crankshaft I seem to remember.

Yeah, we've had several top link housings, two hitches , two sets of arm crosshaft links, and three gearboxes... oh and more clutches than I care to remember - one a year when she was the main machine was common !

Good tractor though !

I have gotten skins from mde in the past and they were the good dunloflex ones.
